  • The Resell Peer-to-Peer Pattern is part of the reuse and resell stage of the customer experience.

On the home screen of his smartphone, the customer gets a notification that the manufacturer or dealer who sold him the product has found a buyer. The provision for the dealer is already deducted.

Earlier in the process, the customer agreed to receiving offers like this. Look up the Harvesting Request Pattern in this library to learn how that works.

The customer still can change his mind or browse other offers for his product. If he accepts the offer, he is guided through some steps to close the deal.

First, he agrees on the logistic and financial rules. The dealer acts as a trustee that overlooks the logistics and payment but also ensures the condition of the product.

Then, he has to confirm that the product is still in the condition that an expert has evaluated in a video call earlier in the process. The customer did this valuation at the end of the Value Self-Assessment pattern of this library.

After confirmation, he gets instructions on how to send the product in a reusable crate and proceeds to a tutorial on how to use it.

  • Especially selling technical products via online marketplaces like ebay is complex. Manufacturers and dealers could act as trustees but do not participate on these platforms.

  • Products are sold peer-to-peer easier and with less emissions and waste. Manufacturers and dealers get a financial incentive to offer a multisided marketplace for pre-owned products in which they participate with their expertise.
