  • The Product Value Lock Pattern is part of the maintenance, repair and upgrade stage of the customer experience.

In the settings of a product, the customer can see the average, decreasing value curve of his product. A second curve shows the best value curve for his product, which of requires some maintenance. By locking the product to this curve, the customer agrees to receive notifications on how to preserve its value.

The dropping curve creates a sense of urgency and loss aversions.

  • Nobody likes to do maintenance, but to preserve the value of products, maintenance needs to become a common routine for customers.

  • Frequent maintenance extends the life cycle of products.
