  • The Product Passport Pattern is part of the extended use stage of the customer experience.

The product passport is accessible via the detail page of my product

The Product Passport Pattern anticipates the Digital Product Passport as envisioned and planned by the European Union.

It contains a unique digital birth certificate of the product and several sections.

In the material contents section the customer can see the raw materials that went into his product.

In the Track and Trace section, the customer can see were materials and components are sourced, how the supply chain is build and where the final product was assembled.

The data sections contains information like the energy consumption of the product, but also the CO2-emissions including emissions for manufacturing.

The Ownership Transfer Sections shows the customer who has owned the product before he bought it.

the customer can go back to the detail page of his product or open a section for more detailed insights.

  • The Digital Product Passport as planned by the European Union contains a lot of valuable data to make the circular economy happen, but yet only few services for customers on top of this data.

  • Making the data of the passport accessible to the customer via services will help him to perform his news tasks in all the stages of the circular experience, from purchase and extended use to maintenance and reuse to end-of-life.
