  • The Maintenance Self Service Pattern Pattern is part of the maintenance, repair and upgrade stage of the customer experience.

In the overview of his products, the customer sees an alert on one item. The product is due for a quarterly maintenance.

On click, the customer sees his product and its current value range. He can click on the components that need regular maintenance. He sees his options for self service and the value that they may add to his product. He also can look into professional service options, which will add more value but will also cost more money.

After selecting one of the self service options, the customer is guided by a tutorial that may contain simple instructional text or short video clips. If het gets stuck, has the option to get live video assistance by a mechanic.

Please look up the Guided Repair Pattern to learn how that works.

  • Nobody likes to do maintenance, but delayed service may lead to a shorter life cycle of products.

  • Triggering maintenance and making it as convenient as possible extends the life cycle of products.
