• Pattern description

  The Harvesting Request Pattern is part of the upcycle and recycle stage of the customer experience.

  On the home screen of his smartphone, the customer gets a request for harvesting or switching components of his product.

  After clicking, he can see the current value range of his product in case he is open to resell it. He also sees special offers for specific components.

  He can also look why he get this request anyway: He enabled circular mode for this product, so the manufacturer is entitled to ask him frequently wether he still uses it.

  The customer can snooze if he doesn’t feel like selling now, so the manufacturer will ask again in 6 months, or ask for an offer anyway just for curiosity.

  Lots of products containing valuable components and materials are not used any more and just stored by customers.

  Using products as material banks and harvesting their components and materials for reuse is an essential part of reversed logistics in the circular economy.
